My name is Seng Thai, and I am a graduate student in Computer Science at the Royal University of Phnom Penh. Throughout my academic journey, I have gained valuable insights into the transformative power of technology and its ability to improve daily life. I believe that, much like medicine, technology holds the potential to both heal and harm, depending on how it is managed. As members of the younger generation in this digital age, we have a critical role in fostering responsible technological development and maintaining digital peace. I first knew about the Youth Internet Governance Forum (YIGF) through social media. The platform’s mission to empower youth, promote global collaboration, and raise technological awareness greatly aligns with my passion for supporting initiatives that drive innovation and create meaningful opportunities for young people to make a difference. YIGF 2024 presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to a space where young leaders can present their ideas and offer solutions to some of the most pressing global technology challenges. Moreover, volunteering at YIGF provides a unique opportunity to connect with like-minded peers, leaders, and other volunteers, creating a network that is both personally and professionally enriching. My name is Duk Pagnarith, and I am a third-year student majoring in Applied Mathematics and Statistics, also known as Data Science, at the Institute of Technology of Cambodia. I love exploring new technologies and am really interested in sustainable data practices. I came across the Cambodia YIGF on Facebook, and this event caught my attention because it aligns with my desire to contribute toward the digital future of Cambodia. The world is changing rapidly, and this is also happening with the data around us. Technology is getting better, and people are using it more. This means that we are creating and collecting a lot of new data every day. This new data is changing how we live and work. It can help us make better decisions, but it can also be difficult to manage as well. It is important that youth are educated on those issues and empowered for active participation in shaping the future of the online world. Together with Cambodia YIGF, I envision an inclusively digital space that will accommodate the growth of all with reduced harm. This provides an opportunity for me to apply my skills and knowledge as an event facilitator in ensuring the success of this very important initiative.
